January's Winter Themed Bunko Night

Yes, I know January is over and I am just now getting this stuff on here.  It has been a busy month.  This month it was my turn to host the Bunko Night.  If you don't know what Bunko is, just Google it.  This group of gals skips the alcohol and we keep things pretty simple.  Well, most of us do.  Here's some pictures for you:

I decided to play with the Snow Flurries stamp and die cut bundle I got from Stampin' Up!  After perusing Pinterest I decided to try to sew the silver embossed snowflakes to make a garland.  Here's my flakey fail.  The presser foot ruined the embossing.

Aggravated (because I had already glued 2 together to make it double sided.), I just went ahead and punched holes in them and hung them with thread.  Here are some that are hung from a plastic snowflake garland I already had.

Some on the chandelier.  These I just sliced up the middle of each one, stopping short on one end, and slid them together without adhesive.

My daughter suggested a few on the ceiling fan pull.  I really think she just likes to watch her Poppa duck under it.

The day of the party I went to the grocery store, then decided to duck into the Dollar Store next door. I found this center piece for 25 cents.  Yes, 25cents!  I got him, his 2 buddies, and a whole mess of decorations for under $5!  He's surrounded by plastic chunks that look like ice:

I had intended on getting pictures of the different snowmen scattered around the house, as well as the snowflakes on the windows, but here's the snowman my daughter made:

Dinner was an almost salt free turkey chili served in snowman bowels that I found at Walgreens two years ago. Oh, dessert was a choice of brownies (made by my daughter), scones, and chocolate covered pretzels.

There were so many things I should have taken pictures of for you.  I stamped snowflakes on the score sheets, all the towels had snowmen, the prizes were all cut glass that looked like ice, and there were streamers on the porch to look like a snow flurry as guests walked in.

Everyone looked like they had a good time, but they missed the after party.

She had too much fun playing in the table cloths
with the plastic garland.

Christmas Tags

As a Christmas gift my friend, and Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, gathered together gift tag elements and put them together in a little kit.  I don't know all of the details about what she put into it, but I sure enjoyed assembling it all together.

Here's the front of the gift bag:

Here's the back:

Here's the un-assembled contents:

Here's what they looked like after I assembled them:

I know how much I enjoyed this bit of craftiness, and I will enjoy using them on future gifts.  So she blessed me twice!  I really liked this idea.  This is an idea I just might incorporate in my future gift giving.  Leave me a comment and tell me what you think!

January Paper Wreath

I have been in a Bunko group for about six years now.  Every Christmas we do some sort of small gift exchange.  I'm sure you've heard of the one where everyone brings a small gift without a tag, then numbers are drawn so everyone takes a turn choosing a gift or stealing one.  To make a long story short, we did ornaments this year.  I ended up with a silvery snowflake that has bells on the tips.  How I adore snowflakes!  The mere sight of this little treasure set my mind off.  The results are as follows:

I used a 10' foam wreath form, white taffeta ribbon, a package of straight pins, and the Winter Frost DSP from Stampin' Up!  I cut the paper in 1/2' strips, curled the ends, and pinned them to the form.  January was my turn to co-host Bunko night.  The wreath started a whole snowflake theme for the evening. But that's another blog post.

Here's my supervisor, Larry.  Let me know what you think of the wreath, or if you have any questions about it in the comments below.
